Lime Sulphur

What is Lime-sulphur?
Lime-sulphur is a chemical applied to exposed wood. The sulphur
prevents rotting action of fungi and the lime acts as a preservative.
You apply the undiluted lime-sulphur to dry, dead wood using
a small paint brush. Be sure to protect the trunk and soil from
exposure to the chemical because it will kill off healthy leaves,
branches, roots, and moss. Soon after the application, the treated
area will turn white in color then slowly disappears to leave
the natural color of the wood. By adding a few drops of india
ink to the lime-sulphur you can soften this intense white color.
The best time to apply it is midday on a hot dry day to enable
the lime-sulphur to dry quickly. |
